Notes

A FINE day in the forest was had. The goal was Scott Bog (South) first, but with no place to park safely - and actively snowing on a snow covered road - we went to plan B. We left the parking area and almost immediately went to a decision point, we stayed straight. In about one mile (el 1530 or so) there is a log yard on the right with a series of skidder roads diverging from it. We took one and then quickly jumped on another, finding skidder paths in the general direction we wanted to go virtually the entire way to the summit. Wide open hardwoods, you could land a plane in here (but not take off again). We retracted our steps and went to cross Ad Chase Brook to link up with the now closed snomo corridor (Halls Stream Trail), to which we then found a bridge. We then used this snomo corridor to within 1000ft of the summit, and out and backed it. There where turkey tracks on the summit, and poop. How rude! Also I turned around and there is CookiesOnTop just eating a red pepper, I thought it was an apple. Nope, just totally went for it. Haha. Retraced steps. Very simplistic and straight forward whack, a very fun time out in the north woods! Varying snow conditions from start to finish, changing between the start and finish as well. I would anticipate the road/snomo corridors will likely start poking through to their surface this week given the rain and warmup, only appeared to be 4" + an ice base. Wet sticky stuff. About 6.25 miles, 1350 vert, ~3h.

Parking

The gate at Ad Chase was open, however there is a note saying the gate could close at any time and not to park past it. Given the snow depth on the road (trace-4") I decided to park where I would think is the traditional parking, after the 2nd house. I also made sure this location would be OK to leave, since it was expected to get above freezing

Water Crossings

The crossing of Ad Chase Brook is bridged (As in a wooden one) between the snowmobile corridor and Ad Chase Road, almost immediately after the turn off for the sugar shack, about 0.9m in.
