Trail Conditions
Notes
Mountain biked the road in to trailhead and hiked in from there. Nobody around at the Dartmouth land area, other than maybe one caretaker but did not see them. Logging signs at gate, saw some log piles, but no active logging seen or heard. I was worried about some trail descriptions saying the trail goes uncomfortably close to ledges, and I am a chicken with heights, but zero issues for me on this trail. Not too close. Nice open woods with elevation, lots of signs of moose, big tracks going up the trail, and lots of moose milk dud piles along the trail. Dark red trillium and trout lily all over the forest floor. First time seeing yellow bleeding heart in the woods?! Might be wrong on ID. Some woodland sorrel here and there. No sign (sightings or sounds) of peregrine falcon nesting on ledges yet. Neat little area to explore, saw no one. Some of the bits of ledge along the trail were slick after the rain yesterday and early morning drizzle. The Dead Diamond River was raging after about an inch of rain yesterday, nice to see good flows.
