Notes

I was itching to climb Glastenbury Mtn as this was my final peak of VT3500Footers (I made it a goal for myself to climb them all), but did not want a 20+ mile out and back via the Long Trail. Looking at maps one night, I realized the VAST snowmobile trails go all the way up to the fire tower. On the VAST trail map, corridor 7A-F2 was marked Closed to sleds as of Friday; snow was certainly punchy and getting soft but held 20inch running snowshoes alright. Might be different in a few days. Corridors 71 & 72 were a little more chewed up from sled traffic but were a bit more solid. 16-miles with 2860ft of climbing, not a bad alternative winter route up this peak!

Parking

There isn’t really an official trailhead. I had reached out to the Shaftsbury Snow Pilots Facebook page - they advised I park back by the Rt 7 bridge, managed to fit my Crosstrek at the end of Glastenbury Rd near their groomer, well off the road.
