It was a great day, great hike. The foliage was peak and spectacular. The building at the top was open with facilities and it was nice to have a snack out of the wind.The food services was closed. The Tram was running not many people, it is Thursday.

Quick hike up to Jay Peak and then a painful slog out to Big Jay. Trail wasn't too hard to follow, but it's VERY brushy. Definitely recommends long pants and shirt if you can stand it. I look like I've been in battle.

The Long Trail to Jay Peak was in great condition with minor pooling from recent rainfall. Draining well. Trail in great condition with no on-trail snow. Big Jay herd path had intermittent snow cover, the most in the last 2/10 of a mile to Big Jay summit, but starting a 1/2 mile from peak. Intermittently from two to four feet. Surprisingly, in a sturdier summer boot, I had no issues with slipping or sliding and it was well consolidated and somewhat stable. Trekking poles helped with no post holing past ankle depth (on descent). Donned a trail crampon (Hillsound) on my plant foot on the descent. Worked out nice but probably would have been fine without. I expect that there will be snow remaining on Big Jay for the next couple weeks.
