Trails Used

Sargent Path, Ledge Trail, Notchway, Four Soldiers Path, Vyron D Lowe Path

Trail Conditions

Snow - Trace/Minimal DepthMud - Minor/Avoidable

Equipment

Microspikes

Notes

I went up Sargent Path, down Ledge Trail to Notchway, and over to the east end of Four Soldiers Path. Then I hiked west on Four Soldiers Path with the intent to go all the way to Pond of Safety. I bailed because there was crusty snow above 2300 feet. I used Vyron T. Lowe Path to get back to my car. There was fresh snow on top of bare ground below 2300 feet. By the end of the day, most of that had melted. I used spikes early in the day, but then the snow starting balling up in the spike chains. I removed the spikes and left them off. Awesome views from Lookout Ledge.

Parking

Parked roadside at the bottom of Sargent Path.

Water Crossings

Crossed Carlton Brook twice. It was running strong, but there were plenty of rocks to hop on.
