Trails Used

Plymouth Mountain Trail

Trail Conditions

Dry TrailMud - Minor/Avoidable

Notes

Terrific afternoon hike, as usual. Love this trail. Looked like an ATV took the first quarter mile of the trail but must have quickly decided otherwise. Beautiful woods, beautiful summit with views to the white mountains from the rocky area just over the top.

Parking

Room for several cars at the top of Pike Hill Road in Bridgewater/Plymouth - 1 car there when we arrived

Water Crossings

no issues - easily rock-hoppable

Wildlife

no too bad... except for the ground bees nest (or ground wasps - not sure) - around 10 minutes from top, about 50 yards below the bald granite false-summit, didn't notice but stepped on a ground nest and was stung badly on my ankle... ARGH!!! Felt like stabbed in my ankle (my "good" ankle). We marked spot from above with a star of deadfall - could see them swarming on our descent

Great hike on a nicely designed trail system. After sumitting I continued on to the New found view which was nice. Took Pikes Peak spur on return which had incredible views. Blazing on trails is a mix of blue blazes, yellow blaze markers, and circular blaze markers.

Parking

Parked at Trailhead large lot. No vehicles on arrival 1 on return

Water Crossings

Small flows no issues

Wildlife

Black flies and mosquitoes are out. Deet came in handy. Ticks are out as well. Usually they dont attach to me but I found one.

Trails Used

Plymouth Mountain Trail

Trail Conditions

Wet Trail

Notes

Terrific afternoon after a very short paddle on the Pemi Bristol in the am. Terrific time. Was afraid of snow in the swampy area but there wasn't more than a few hundred feet - obvious moose tracks which were very cool. Terrific views from just below summit. Gorgeous mossy/rocky/soft trail bed. Surprised to see someone else descending as we descended. I almost never see anyone on this trail. Spent a bit of time enjoying the frog noises from the vernal pools. Very neat.

Parking

room for 2-3 cars at top of Pike Hill Rd

Water Crossings

first crossing rock-hoppable (usually dry)

Wildlife

none.... yet
