Cascade Path, Elephant Rock Trail, Cascade Path West, Norway Rapids Trail, Livermore Trail, Scaur Ridge Trail, Pine Bend Brook Trail, Boulder Path

Trail Conditions

Notes

This was a pretty easy hike, and got 7 new redline trails! Cascade path was in good shape and climbed pretty gradually throughout. The cascades were nice, especially after the overnight rain. For others redlining, make sure to do both sides of the cascades, as there is a Cascade path and Cascade path West, which does not appear to be on maps but is on the official list (at least for the 30th edition guide book). Livermore trail is very easy and smooth, and I saw some runners and mountain bikers, it's a good trail for all sorts of activities! Scaur Ridge trail climbs steadily throughout and offers some very obstructed views out to the Tripyramid north slide. It is easy to follow. The herd path out to Scaur Peak was well traveled and very appreciated. It leaves Pine Bend Brook trail as it bends Northeast, and make a pretty strait line out to the summit. It seemed to split a little right before the summit, and the path I took went slightly past the summit and cut back with a sharp right turn. The canister is a glass jar which is in good shape, but the notebook is completely full.

Parking

Very large lot for cascade path. There were a number of cars but I think I was the only hiker, as the lot is also used for the Snow's Mountain chairlift.

Water Crossings

The crossing on Boulder path was tough, although I ventured upstream a short ways and found a way across. The crossing of Norway Rapids is a little sketchy, as the rocks around it are pretty smooth and potentially slippery. I wouldn't want to do either in much higher water.

Wildlife

Not too bad, I was getting pestered a bit at first but I stopped noticing them after the first couple miles.

Trails Used

Pine Bend Brook Trail, Mt Tripyramid Trail, herd path

Trail Conditions

Dry TrailMud - Minor/Avoidable

Notes

Surprisingly dry and very little monorail, spikes stayed in the car. We were thinking of doing more summits than just the Tris so we added on a side quest to Scaur Peak. Summit herd path is braided and chock full of blowdowns of various shapes and sizes, rough and could be cleared up a bit, kinda wandered into the jar from the south end of the summit clearing. About the driest I've seen Pine bend and minimal mud tho bugs and heat were both nuisances on the last couple miles of the descent

Parking

Many cars at Pine bend

Water Crossings

Rock hops tho I walked thru all the streams on the descent

Wildlife

Blackfiles are alive down low merp
