Bushwhack

Trail Conditions

Dry TrailWet/Slippery Rock

Notes

Spring hiking in a large trailless area with multiple ledges and partial views. Mostly snow-free conditions with some patchy snow at higher elevations. Bushwhack route connecting Rattlesnake Mountain, Upper Rattlesnake, and Bald Ledge with side visit to talus slope. Multiple historical features including old homestead cellar hole and stone walls. Oak-wooded ledge meadows throughout. Author notes this was fifth visit to talus slope area. Hike completed in late afternoon.

Water Crossings

Multiple brook crossings including trailside brook and nameless brook; lower section has brook with cascades

Wildlife

Moose evidence observed; pileated woodpecker sighting; deer tracks in snow
