Trail Conditions

Notes

Whitewall was the only summit of the day tho we did some much spirited exploring of the west side of West Field and heard but didn't see any moose :( Also may have had a short minor thrashy forest meltdown after overshooting FR192A on the descent. Also solar halos We started left off Zealand trail next to the north end of the pond and wandered up thru this massive glacial erratic pile that reminded me of half the RMC trail network. Big expansive birch hobblebush glades starting at 2800' up to 3400' then pretty open conifers to the cranberry ledge capped summit. We found the canister and it was operational!! (Rachel added a new summit log, tho I found the amazing notch view ledge) Faint herd line NE off the summit cairns down into the big glade and contour around the north end of the col ponds. Wandering loop up the ridge, made it to 3400' and 1/2mi west of West Field before we dropped back down, over, around and eventually I found the very rough FR192A which crosses A-Z and its many slimy damp wet bog bridges, yay! Zealand trail was pretty saturated from the lovely damp afternoon rain storm. Great weather for a short walk with the umbrella to check out the Wildlife pond on the way out
